LIVE- Baddies @ Moho Live

It’s a genuine credit to Baddies that they can play so well tonight, despite the room being hardly one-third full. Dressed in matching uniforms, the quartet stroll out to a few cheers and whistles before launching into their raucous opener ‘Holler For My Holiday’.

Being a relatively new band on the scene, it was probably the case that much of the crowd was seeing the band for the first time (like me) which also meant that there wasn’t a huge reaction from the assembled audience. Nevertheless, Baddies soldier on, careering through the opening few songs of the set which included the insanely catchy ‘Open One Eye’ and ‘Battleships’ from debut album Do The Job as well as a new number.

Things slow down mid-set as Michael Webster treats us to an acoustic break before the whole band returns to leap around to the angular, fast-paced indie that brings up thoughts of The Futureheads. It’s not so much that Baddies ‘copy’ them – it’s just that they sound exactly like them. In almost every way. Despite this, a fantastic performance nonetheless.
