Facebook virus spreads

A Facebook virus spreading fast could put students’ computers at risk. In the past week, the virus has unwittingly been passed from friend to friend via the networking site’s inbox component.

Facebook users affected by the virus received messages in their inbox, which appeared to be from one of their friends, with title lines of “Caught on camera” and “Is that really you in this video?” The messages then provided a link which, when opened, infected users’ computers with an unidentified virus.
This virus has already affected many students across Manchester.
One student at the University of Manchester said: “It’s an absolute nightmare.  You just don’t expect to get a virus on Facebook.”
Another student at the University of Manchester commented: “Now my laptop’s so slow and my internet barely works, which is so inconvenient because exams and essay deadlines are coming up.”
