fusefmStudent radio station FuseFM returned to the airwaves last week with a fresh line-up of DJs, presenters, producers and a new committee.

The launch party, held in Red Rum on Wilmslow Road, was broadcast live on air on their wavelength 87.7FM after a countdown to broadcast just before midnight.

Station Manager Stephen Bugeja said: “A lot people have worked very hard over the last few months and it’s great that we’re finally on air.

“Yet again we had a huge demand for shows and we think we’ve put together a very exciting line-up. Make sure you tune in!”

FuseFM were looking to employ a full-time station manager earlier this semester. This would enable the radio station to broadcast 24 hours a day, 7 days a week online, whilst maintaining the FM licence for four weeks each semester. It was hoped that this would widen opportunities for students looking to get a firsth-hand experience of radio.

A motion was proposed at the first General Meeting at the University of Manchester Students’ Union; however, it missed quorum by approximately 60 people and so the meeting was abandoned. Nevertheless Stephen maintained that hopes are still high for securing the new position in time for next year.
