3. Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance (2002) South Korea
The precursor to Oldboy in Park Chan-Wook’s vengeance trilogy, Mr. Vengeance has it all; an ill fated kidnap, black market organ trading, terrorism and a growing sense of not really knowing who to cheer on.
2. Rashomon (1950) Japan
Directed by the legendary Akira Kurosawa, this film has influenced everything from The Usual Suspects to The Simpsons. Tells the story of a rape-murder seen from 4 very different perspectives, essential viewing.

Oscar winner by acclaimed director Hayao Miyazaki, this is a fantasy adventure about a young girl who must work in a bathhouse owned by demons so that she can free her parents, who have be turned into pigs by a witch. Sound weird? It’s wonderful.
