Boy meets girl. Boy falls in love with girl. Boy proposes to girl in beautiful moonlit scenery. Girls chest explodes, spraying jam and hundreds and thousands over boy. OMG WTF!? These are five moments that come completely from left field to slap you in the face like a big fat wet kipper.
5. The 40 Year Old Virgin – ‘So how was that for you?’
Steve Carell has finally done the deed, and expresses his satisfaction by bursting into song and joyfully prancing around a field. While off-the-wall and undoubtedly funny, this is not a tactic one should try at home.
4. Punch Drunk Love – A car crash happens
A little obscure this one, but in this little gem of a film Adam Sandler sees a car flip over and crash. Nothing happens, and it’s never mentioned again. Weird.
3. Scanners – Head + High Pitched Noise + Psychic Powers = Messy
The beauty of this one is that you know something bad about to happen, but what comes is far, far more than you expect. It’s a battle of the brains, and then BOOM, guy’s head explodes. Not one to watch just after dinner.
2. The Crying Game – SHE’S a HE!
For anyone who hasn’t seen it, I’m sorry, I pretty much ruined the film for you. Our leading man is about to do the dirty with his beautiful new lady chum, she gets naked, and has a penis. Yep, she has a penis.
1. 2001; A Space Odyssey – The last 15 minutes
The end of brilliantly slow burning sci-fi masterpiece is so out there I’m pretty sure that if you watched it while on acid your face would literally melt. The light speed trip through a kaleidoscope is one thing, but then there’s A PLANET SIZED FOETUS! Wow.
