You’ve had Bieber Fever.

Now prepare for the Black Plague.

We’ve all been there: prepubescent, pre-teen, drunken nights out, while rolling in your Benz and generally causing mischief. But has anyone ever written a song about it? If the answer is no, you’ve missed a trick. Fortunately the void has been filled - filled by the barely ten years old Rebecca Black – presumably a manufactured popstar unleashed on the world by EMI to capitalise on post-Bieber fame, fortune, and executive bonuses. Or actually, a 13 year old, signed to Ark Music Factory, but the point remains.

Highlights of the song include, predictably, the chorus, “Friday, Friday. Partying, partying, yeah!”, and my personal favourite, the line, “Fun, fun, think about fun, you know what it is.” The enrichment I personally gained from this song is actually quite vast, considering the scope of the material. I total it at – one chuckle, an enduring smile, and a quick post onto a friend’s Facebook wall. The latter action is actually highly significant, because predictably, in the world of web 2.0, this video has gone highly viral, and a number of memes (that’s internet gags for those of you who go outside) have ensued.

Charlie Sheen’s quotes seem years away and are slowly becoming less ‘winning’. Quickly the internet has to fill the void left by his waning activity over the last few days. It has taken over the world to the extent that I am currently writing this article, (on request!), for a legit university newspaper. Despite the silliness of the whole thing, who’s to say I can’t enjoy the ride?!
