Vintage Campaign

When creating a shoot a concept has to be generated around which the campaign is produced and modelled. This has to take into consideration the customer profile of the client when deciding upon every aspect, such as models, location, outfits, make-up artist and lighting.

The popularity of this profession has escalated with the advent of high-profile industry figures themselves becoming celebrities. When people see a well-dressed celebrity nowadays, their first thought is not ‘how stylish do they look’ but ‘who is their stylist?’

Manchester Fashion Network recently held a talk at the Circle Club on the career of a stylist and what it takes to achieve success. Local industry experts spoke of their own personal experiences, with the main emphasis being that you have to have a true passion to make it and be willing to work (often unpaid until you have built your portfolio) at any and every opportunity. There are many areas of specialisation within the trade, meaning it’s a question of finding out what you excel at and enjoy.
