Frog and Bucket Comedy Club

In 1993 a small city centre pub became what is now known to many as The Frog and Bucket. The “little frog,” as it’s affectionately known, has showcased stars such as Steve Coogan, Peter Kay, Caroline Aherne and Johnny Vegas over the years and prides itself in developing the best new comedians. The club has a fantastic variety of nights, the student favourite being Monday’s “Beat the Frog” as it’s free entry and cheap drinks.

New comedians have five minutes to impress the audience, in which time, if they’re not laughing, the comic gets the green card. Three cards and yer off. To fully appreciate it get yourself down there this Monday. A new night which comes highly recommended is the all female “Laughing Cows.” The night surfaced during Manchester’s Pride festival and occurs on the last Sunday of every month.

Check out “Big Value Thursday” for cut price curry and “Barrel of Laughs” at the weekend for the best in top quality comedy. A visit to F & B is a must for all students. Find out for yourself why the they won Best Comedy Club at last year’s North West awards.
