In support of their third album ‘Frames,’ released last week, local residents Oceansize embark on a U.K. tour visiting Academy 3 on Tuesday of this week. “Frames” has received rave reviews from the press and, perhaps even more importantly, from their fans who seem more than satisfied with the band’s latest effort.
After meeting at The University of Salford, Oceansize’s first wave of success came in 2002 after they landed a support slot with The Cooper Temple Clause. Recently, the band has amicably moved on to become the first signing of new record company Superball, whose aim is to enlist keen, young rock acts, transcending through the genres.
The band experienced interest from an unexpected audience when ‘Meredith,’ a track from their second album, cropped up on the soundtrack for The O.C. ‘Music For A Nurse’ (also from the album ‘Everyone Into Position’) will be recognisable to those unfamiliar with the band from the Orange fish advertisement last summer. Despite the temptation, the lads have made it clear that commercial success is not their prime aim by continuing to produce mind-blowing heavy guitar music, to the delight of their fans.
‘Frames’ has been said to be “easily their best work” and at times “the sound of the band ignoring themselves.” Discover the capacity of our fellow Greater Manchester students this Tuesday… and be swept away.
