Bingo! Man Met Student Wins £33,000

WINNING OVER £33,000 sweetened a night out for a Manchester Metropolitan student when his bingo numbers were called not once, not twice, but three times last week.

Chemistry student Steven Rigby, who visits the Buckingham Club in Didsbury several times a week, started his massive winning streak with a mere £10 win.

He won a national prize of £30,270, a regional prize of £3,000 and the house prize of £75.

Mr Rigby's incredible luck did not end there, as he went on to win a further £400 on the last game of the evening.

Describing himself as "41 years young", Mr Rigby hoped to put some of his winnings towards good causes and to help others.

"The Catholic Church at the University is taking a group of sick people from the diocese on a pilgrimage to Lourdes so I'd like to contribute to that, or even go myself and help out," said Mr Rigby.

He added that the church was also supporting an orphanage in India, to which he would like to donate some money.

Mr Rigby also planned to spend some of his winnings on seeing the British Lions on tour in South Africa, as he is a keen rugby supporter.

Mr Rigby, who has been playing bingo for fifteen years, said: "It's been such a nice surprise."

"Living on a student loan is difficult but this win will keep me going and I can now pay back the money I owe to my dad."

Mr Rigby added that while he would try his luck again, he was planning to cut back on his playing for a few months to concentrate on exams.
