Blue Murder in Piccadilly Records

POPULAR STUDENT haunt Piccadilly Records featured in ITV's detective series "Blue Murder".

The store had to close temporarily for early-morning filming sessions. Manchester's Tina O'Brien took on the cameo role of Amy Kirkland, the girlfriend of a murdered rock star in the first episode of the new series.

Rob Butler, a previous American Studies student who now works at the record shop, said: "She was lovely. Just as good looking in real life as on screen."

"Philippa [store manager] was in some of the shots too, but she wasn't speaking. She had to stare authoritatively at Tina in a 'get back to work' sort of way."

The drama Blue Murder also stars Caroline Quentin. ITV could not confirm when the new episodes will be aired.
