Curry House Destroyed In ‘Arson Attack’

A CURRY MILE restaurant was completely destroyed by fire last week in what police were describing as a “suspected arson attack”.

Worried passers by raised the alarm after spotting flames inside the popular Shaandaar restaurant in the early hours of the morning.

Four fire engines raced to the unoccupied curry house and put out the massive blaze, which wrecked the ground floor and first floor of the building.

Emergency services remained on the scene for more than eight hours while they launched a probe into the blaze, which happened last Thursday.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said that they thought the fire “might have been arson.” It was not thought to have been racially motivated.

Blue and white police tape was used to cordon off the entrance to the blackened smoke damaged curry house.

A spokesman for the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service told Student Direct last week that they were looking into what caused the blaze.

“The ground floor and first floor of an unoccupied Wilmslow Road restaurant suffered 100 percent damage by fire,” he said.

“The cause of the fire is still being investigated. We used one hose reel and four breathing apparatus.”
