General Meeting Called Off

LAST WEEK'S general meeting was cancelled due to poor attendance – for the third time this academic year.

Wednesday's meeting had been scheduled for 1.30pm, but did not have the three hundred students needed for quorum by 2pm and was therefore cancelled.

Many council members were also absent, many without sending apologies, despite being obliged to do so.

There were ten items on the agenda, including LGBT rights, free education, going green and abortion rights.

Of the four general meetings scheduled since September, three have now been cancelled due to poor turnout. The only meeting that was able to proceed was the well-publicised debate about twinning between Palestine Al Najah Students' Union and The University of Manchester Students' Union on 14th November 2007.
