ARMED THIEVES clutching a Samurai sword and a sledgehammer held up a restaurant in Fallowfield.
Three armed thugs masked in balaclavas stormed Nando's on Wilmslow Road shortly before closing time and coerced the staff into opening the tills and safe under the threat of violence.
Members of staff were forced to join the two remaining customers in the restaurant and stand against the wall while the robbers cleaned out the safe.
"It was all a bit of a blur really, more surreal than scary – we just did what they told us", said a second year student who was working at the restaurant at the time.
"It wasn't until afterwards that we realised how frightening it had been", added the twenty-year-old student.
"I think I was just shocked at the time," adds the undergraduate.
