Student Discount at Somerfield

SUPERMARKET CHAIN Somerfield last week launched a five percent discount on all food and drink to students.

The popular student supermarket was offering a discount card to all students who have a valid NUS card from last Wednesday.

The discount card, which is valid for two years, will entitle students to five percent off all food and drink purchases.

But baby formula, petrol, lottery tickets and tobacco will all remain at full price for students.

Sarah Hinton of Somerfield said that the company wants to “help out British students all year long”, as 140 of their nine hundred UK stores are in university towns.

Manchester has a branch in the city centre opposite the Piccadilly Gardens bus stop, one on Mauldeth Road, Fallowfield and another off Withington High Street.

Have your say, tell us what you think...

Have seen these... but no one seems to know how to use them

I have worked at somerfield for the past 2 years and have never been aware of this!

I work for Somerfield
I was not even aware of this!

I tried in a Somerfield down in Wales and they said i had to complete an application form for THEIR student discount card, i.e. the one they will accept.Annoyed,i didn't bother.

I tried unsuccessfully to use my student discount card at Somerfield Forresterhill Road today. Is there a limited valid period?

The card is valid for two years. We apologise if there was any problem - we are confident this has since been resolved.

Somerfield's customer services team would be more than happy to help you should any issues persist.

Kindest regards,
Pete Williams, Somerfield

I've tried using my card a couple of times and it never works. The employees at Somerfield just tell me to try again next time. Is it just a con? I was told I don't need to register it and I can't find anywhere where I could even register it if they lied.
